14th day of Lent. Disgusting packet to match the disgusting habit of a disgusting tosser! Rothmans of London now Rubbish of The Bin! 😱

Thank you to the amazing Oldham College students and staff for their support for the #1PieceOfRubbish campaign.The environment is certainly safe in their hands!🙏

EVENT: RUBBISH RUTH’S RAMBLES |

This afternoon, we were joined by clean-up queen Rubbish Ruth’s Rambles in Speakers’ Corner, who shared the story of her campaign and encouraged students to pick up #1PieceofRubbish per day.

She’s travelled far and wide to spread the message – and has even appeared on The One Show!

Ruth is inspired by Anne Frank, who famously said “How wonderful it is that nobody need wait a single moment before starting to improve the world”.

Many students pledged to start making a difference TODAY.

12th day of Lent. If you can’t give up smoking to protect your children, family and friends at least try ‘giving up’ your fag packet to the bin!

11th day of Lent. If that message doesn’t make smokers want to ‘give it up’ permanently and not just for Lent, then I don’t know what will! Some of them can’t even ‘give it up’ to a bin!

10th day of Lent. Smoking increases the risk of blindness. There are none so blind as those who ‘will not see’ so on their behalf I ‘’gave this up’ to the bin.

9th day of Lent and ‘gave up’ cigarettes. Don’t want any risks of strokes or disabilities!

8 days of ‘giving up’ alcohol haven’t persuaded me to ‘give up’ drinking in the evening so I’m going to ‘give up’ cigarettes instead. As a non-smoker that should be an easier sacrifice to make! 😂🤣😂 #1PieceOfRubbish
